Sharing design for procurement best practice

The 35th Swedish Bridge Builders' Day took place on 27 January 2025 in Gothenburg, and brought together professionals from across the bridge construction industry. Representing Knight Architects, Martin spoke about Lilla Lidingöbron and its innovative hybrid Design & Build procurement route.

While procurement may not always be the most captivating topic for designers, a strong understanding of the process has been key to the success of our projects of all scales.

Developed in collaboration with Lidingö Stad, Lilla Lidingöbron is an active mobility bridge that re-established the public transport link from Ropsten to Lidingö. It also provides dedicated pedestrian and cycle lanes, complete with balconies for public enjoyment, it exemplifies a balanced approach to design excellence, functionality, and cost efficiency for the benefit of the local community.
