Abbey-Chesterton bridge opens to the public
06 January 2022
Alongside the local community, we were delighted to see the opening of the Abbey-Chesterton foot & cycle bridge just before Christmas. The crossing forms part of the 26km-long Chisholm Trail, an exciting new mostly off-road and traffic-free walking and cycling route in Cambridge.
Local campaigner Jim Chisholm, who conceived the route 23 years ago and after whom it is named, was on hand to cut the ribbon as well as enjoy cycling part of the new trail as it crosses the River Cam.
The 3.5km-long Phase One of the trail, which connects Cambridge Station and the new Cambridge North Station, is now open to the public.
