Contractor appointed in Helsinki

20 May 2021

The Kruunusillat project is a big step closer to completion following the announcement that the Kruunusillat Consortium, consisting of Kreate Oy and YIT Suomi Oy, has won the tender for the bridge construction.

At 1.2km, the competition-winning Kruunuvuorensilla structure will, once complete, be Finland's longest bridge as well as the country's tallest (the central pylon stretches to 135m). It will carry tram, pedestrian and cycle traffic and connect the city centre with the island suburb of Laajasalo.

The work is scheduled to begin in October 2021 with a completion goal of autumn 2025.
