ELOR opening in sight
25 July 2022
The new East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) will be fully open in time for Leeds festival-goers to use ahead of the 26 August 2022, subject to completed road safety checks.
With five distinctive bridges designed by Knight Architects and Atkins, and constructed by Balfour Beatty, ELOR is a new dual two-lane highway designed to connect the phases of the East Leeds Extension (ELE), creating a major strategic growth area for the city. A key new piece of Leeds City Council infrastructure, ELE is reliant upon the early delivery of ELOR which will dictate and define the identity, character and quality of the wider development areas. The architectural approach to the five Active Travel structures creates an identity that is unique for ELOR and provides safe, traffic-free routes across and along the highway as part of a landscaped corridor.
