First Flow Bridge opens in Shropshire
30 January 2023
The first iteration of the Knight Architects-designed Flow Bridge has been installed and opened for public use just north of the town of Craven Arms, Shropshire. The innovative, modular footbridge replaces the previous styled level crossing, which was identified for closure as part of Network Rail’s Level Crossing Replacement Safety Programme.
Senior Network Rail managers and the wider design team joined members of the local community to celebrate the official opening of the footbridge, which forms part of the rural footpath network.
Knight Architects continues to work alongside Network Rail to develop “MK2” of the system, which will include an updated stepped solution, as well as a wider range of ramped and lift configurations to suit a variety of sites.
