Flow Bridge scoops its first award at Railway Innovation Awards
18 October 2021
The groundbreaking Flow footbridge took home its first award on Friday afternoon. The level-crossing replacement design was honoured for its commendable innovation in the Engineering & Safety category at the Railway Innovation Awards (organised by Modern Railways).
The Network Rail-led project challenged the design team to find a way to deliver a user-focused footbridge that is not only cheaper but quicker to produce than a steel equivalent, and adaptable to a wide range of locations. By using a range of modern composites, the different properties of which are tailored to their location and structural function, the design concept achieves a lightweight, strong and cost-effective solution.
Congratulations to the talented team!
