Gateway footbridges for the A14 on site
09 September 2019
A couple of 'firsts' for Knight Architects. Our first Highways England project to be on site and our first cable stayed footbridges. The new bridges at Bar Hill and Swavesey will bring important and sustainable connectivity to local communities. Conceived as a pair of structures, the tower forms provide a gateway to the A14 corridor and identity to the surrounding area.
Developed with Atkins and Skanska the design provided significant savings for the client whilst maintaining the original aspirations for high quality design
