KA Bursary scheme launches
13 January 2022
Knight Architects has always been a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion, but lack of diversity in an industry that thrives on creative collaboration and rich dialogue isn’t a problem limited to architecture practices – it affects the quality of the built environment for everyone for generations to come.
Under-representation of minority ethnic groups and women is a vital issue in our profession, and we want to do something about it. That is why we've launched the Knight Architects Bursary scheme. This three-year financial and mentoring commitment will provide added support to one new student, from an under-represented background, for each academic year throughout their Architecture degree. We are delighted to announce Stella Forde as our inaugural student. Stella, who we first met through our summer work experience programme, impressed us with her enthusiasm for architecture and her drive to use the profession to benefit others. She is now enrolled at De Montfort University on their Architecture BA (Hons) course.
Alongside the bursary scheme, we are working with Bucks Skills Hub in local secondary schools to introduce young people to the exciting pathways into architecture and design, inspiring them to consider a future in the profession.
