Leeds active mobility scheme shortlisted for CIHT National Award
26 April 2024
We are delighted that the East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) has been shortlisted for a Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation National Award (Infrastructure category).
The scheme is the largest project undertaken by Leeds City Council in the past 50 years. The 6.8km of new dual carriageway, five new roundabout junctions, six bridges, three pocket parks and two outdoor gyms illustrate the scale of the ambition to ease traffic congestion whilst promoting active travel.
Our 'family' of weathering steel bridges and underpasses have created equitable focal points along the route, each of which makes an important contribution to the success of ELOR in terms of its use and permeability, as well as providing a desired sense of place which supports the overall ambition for the scheme.
Congratulations to the whole team and good luck for the awards ceremony on 13 May.
