New Pooley Bridge featured at TU Berlin

17 December 2020

As part of TU Berlin's Bridge2Talk series, Head of Design Héctor Beade Pereda recently spent the evening in the company of Assistant Lecturer Çağlar Onbaşı and his Institute of Architecture (bridge design) students.

Héctor spoke about the importance of context and the user in bridge design and how, frequently, bridges are designed as a response to a functional problem or a technical challenge, forgetting about places and people. Knight Architects' recently completed New Pooley Bridge as well as St Philips Footbridge were used to illustrate how, when context and users are meaningfully considered in the design process, outcomes can be radically different. A stimulating Q&A session ended the enjoyable event.
