New Pooley Bridge unanimous winner at ICE Awards

Congratulations to the entire New Pooley bridge design team as the elegant replacement structure was awarded Best Medium Project at yesterday's virtual ICE NW Awards!
The UK's first stainless steel road bridge, which replaces the original 18th century stone arch structure lost in the floods of 2015, was also Highly Commended in the Constructability category.
This win adds to the success at the Civil Engineering Contractors Association North West Awards last week, where the Lake District bridge was awarded Project of the Year £5m+.
“This is a stunning project... What was undoubtedly a sad loss has now turned into a beautiful asset in the shape of this slender new bridge with its single arch span. The judges were unanimous in awarding the replacement Pooley Bridge the ICE North West Medium Project Award.”
