NIC Design Principles at the core of our work

It was hugely rewarding to be recognised, at the 2023 British Construction Industry Awards, for work that champions the National Infrastructure Commission pillars of Climate, People, Places and Value. The Network Rail FLOW Bridge was the overall winner of the NIC Design Principles Award, with the East Leeds Orbital Route named as Highly Commended.

Whilst very different from one another in scale, context, materiality and shape, the success of both schemes is defined by their ambition to design and deliver infrastructure that respect people and the planet for generations to come. This is also exemplified in New Pooley Bridge, which was the NIC Design Principles winner in 2021.

These values have been central to the KA ethos for many years, not only because they help to raise the ambition for the quality of the UK's infrastructure schemes but also because - as leaders in our field - we seek to challenge and inspire our clients and partners to 'make the story bigger'.
