The Grade II-listed goods yard buildings by Regent’s Canal represent an important part of London’s heritage. Their distinctive industrial language helps define the area’s character and, as part of the Kings Cross redevelopment, they’re currently being redeveloped. The main building is already home to Central St Martin’s College.
We believe that all new architecture should be measured to suit its setting and that for a bridge to be beautiful, it needn’t be iconic or bold. Here, with Granary Square in the background and the wonderful Canalside Steps forming a natural amphitheatre for performance and relaxation, our approach was to design a bridge that blends tactfully with its surroundings.
